Snow...Again

Two days ago it was warming up and the snow had all melted pretty much. Then BAM! we wake up on Saturday and its snowing. It snowed two days straight. Today when we woke up to go to class it was -20 degrees outside... needless to say, I am cold. I dont think theres enough tea in the world to warm me up at this point.

"Snowshoeing"

For Corpse of Discovery we were supposed to go Snowshoeing up in the mountains outside of town. However, do to weather we couldnt get onto the interstate and get out of town. We ended up going to this park maybe ten minutes from campus and sledded down this huge hill. My roommate Bry had been getting sick so she was drinking plenty of fluids and by the time we got to the park she had to go to the bathroom so bad. So her, this girl Kin, Hannah, Kandice, and myself all went on a hunt for a nearby restroom. Three of us had snowshoes on and looked quite ridiculous. After about two miles walking along, we made it to a gas station, and half way back to campus. In the end everyone picked us up half way back to the park and our adventure was complete.

Studio Art Experience

Studio Art Experience is a class that I take twice a week. In the class there are only seven students and our professor "Rebecca". We will be doing many different aspects of art in this class, such as photography, printing, drawing, collages, and even ceramics. Our first assignment was to make two collages: one was a self portrait of ourselves, what people see (bottom photo) and the other a self portrait abstract of the real you (top left photo). After we did those Rebecca wanted us to take a part of each of the collages and draw them: one in color (middle photo) and one in just black and white (top right photo, but not quite done yet). So far this class is my favorite. I enjoy being able to express myself through the art.

Homecoming

My Materpiece

Last week was homecoming. The theme was Argos Defeating the Decades. There were activities in the Student Center everyday that corresponded with the decade of the day. There was gak making for the 90s, we made tie dye shirtss (above) for the 70s, they made milkshakes one day (although that didnt really have to do with a decade, but I am sure they tasted good), and we all got free homecoming t-shirts. I was really happy to get a long sleeved one because I am so cold most of the time and apparently dont have many long sleeved shirts. We played our homecoming game against Carroll, "Id rather go to Hell then be a Saint" thats our moto. Anywyas, everyone was all pumped up and Argo pride last week.

West Yellowstone

This weekend I was invited by my roommate and her parents to tag along to go snowmobiling in Yellowstone National Park. We left on Friday and returned back at UGF on Monday. We spent all of Saturday with a guide and ten snowmobiles in Yellowstone. That day we road a total of 96 miles. I didnt drive much, but when I finally did I drove us off the road. Our snowmobile was almost about to tip when I straightened out and we ended up about four feet from a tree. It was ok though because we got it out no problem. The coolest part of the whole trip was all the stuff we got to see. We rode about five feet from bison several times, which was so cool and we got to see these beautiful waterfalls and the geysers. On sunday we had the day all to ourselves. We jumped on the trails and rode all day long. We were lost for most of the day, but that was alright because every onve in awhile we would run into a map and kind of get an idea of where we were going. My roomies paretns got themselves stuck in the base of a tree in three feet of snow and it took us nearly a half an hour to pull them out. That was a good time for us to stop and get some cocoa and take a break. We looked real cute all bundled up in millions of layers and huge snow suits and helmets (which gave me a headache and hurt my ears). I had a good weekend and am very thankful for both my roommate Bry and her family and their willingness to welcome me into their family. This weekend will be one I will never forget.

Start of Second Semester

Today was the first day of classes. I only had Bioology (only lasted about 20 minutes) and COD (only lasted about 30 minutes) which were an easy start. This semester my classes include Communications through the Lens, Studio Art Experience, Biology, Biology Lab, COD, Forensic Science, and one more that has yet to be determined (either english or seminar for science). I am very excited to dive into these classes, although my schedule is pretty crazy, it should turn out to be a good semester.

Winter Break

After a five hour delay at the Great Falls airport on December 10, 2010, I finally made it home. I had a great break being home and getting to see everyone. It wasnt really an eventful break, i would say, but there were some good times. For Christmas I got new onsie pajamas and a new laptop (which was much needed and Im quite happy about). For new years I went to a friends house and dinner (wasnt really anything special). I also house sat while i was home for ten days, well it was more like dog sitting, but same thing. I only managed to work one day (Christmas Eve) which wasnt ideal, for my parents or I, but I suppose that one day is better than none at all. In all I was happy to be home and hang out with everyone and be in good ol' Washington again. Two months and I will return for Spring Break, should be fun.
