Fall Festival Dance

This week, for Halloween, they are having things to do every night. Last night was the Halloween dance. I hate dances, and have never been one to actually dance, however we had the best time ever. Bry, Courtney and I all went to Wal-Mart and got a bunch of stuff for our costumes. We ended up being Jazzercisers. We looked pretty ridiculous, which was probably the best part. We got plain white T-Shirts (mens size 2X so theyd be way too big) and colorful tank tops and leggings. We cut out the neck of our shirts, but Bry cut mine too much so i was having trouble keeping the shoulder on mine. Also we got the most ridiculous sun glasses and spray glitter for our hair. We danced all night long, it was so much fun. After the dance we were pretty hyper, mostly from being so tired, and we went to Sonic for shakes and played Chinese firedrill. It was quite entertaining.

Pictures are available on my Facebook. Under Great Falls.

Fall Break

Last weekend was Fall Break. The school had a fall break trip planned for the four day weekend to Browning, Montana. Browning is a reservation for the Blackfeet Indian tribe. The tribe has a large alcohol problem. The point of us to go there was to work in De La Salle school with the children. I worked with the eighth grade class which had about eleven students in it (the school went from fourth grade to eighth and only had about 65 students in it). We were present in the classes to show the children that theres hope in carrying on with your education. We learned a lot about the Blackfeet tribe from the experience from speakers and interacting with the kids. I even learned how to say a couple things in Blackfeet, which is pretty cool. We stayed at "the Mission" which is where Brother Paul and Brother Ray live. The property used to be where they had a boarding school for Indians where the whites would deindianize them. Now the remains of the burned down dorm building are still there, but it is now just where the people who run the school live. There was also a church on the property from the time they had the school, which was very cool to see. Behind our bunhouse was a cemetary mainly full of indian children and babies that had died. The cemetary was sad to see, most of the graves were so old that you couldnt tell that they were graves anymore. Also, on the one thousand acre property there was a river which we spent a lot of time exploring. On the second night there we heard mysterious drumming that would get close then really far then at one point it was right outside our window. We were terrified. The next day one of the spiritual leader had come to speak to us and we told him of our experience, he blessed the house at the four corners and we all slept amazing that night. On the last day we went to Glacier National Park. That place is beautiful. We climbed the waterfalls and took hundreds of pictures, it was just amazing. In all, I am so glad that I went on the fall break trip, the people that I met, the experiences that I had, it was great.

Elevators, Panic Attacks, and Basketball Games

This weekend has been crazy. My roommates grandmother died on Friday morning so this weekend my friend Bry and I decided to keep her distracted. Friday night we all went to the Basketball game. We won, however we only stayed for like a half hour of the game and went back to the dorms and watched the Devil Wears Prada. Saturday, Courtney (my roommate) and I went to this meeting called a Toastmaters Meeting. It was a two hour speech contest. The first hour was a humor speech contest and the second part was an impromptu speech contest. It was quite boring and I sat next to this man named Charlie who was a judge for the contest. He wanted to talk forever. At night we went to another basketball game. This game was an alumni game, we only stayed for a little bit of that one as well. We went back to the dorms and moved Bry to the first floor. That was the funniest thing that could have happened, hours of pure laughter. Bry has surgery on her leg in January so instead of having to go to the third floor to live she moved to the first floor, two doors from us. We packed the elevator (which is a sketchy elevator we are scared to take alone after we got stuck in it that one time) with all her stuff and filled her new room. There was pretty much nowhere to move. Trying to move all the furniture was the most entertaining thing. After about three hours we were almost done and i went under Bry's bed to lift it so she could fit her fridge under it. There was only a tiny corner of space and Bry went back there with me. I was crammed tight into the corner under her bed with Bry and I was having a major panic attack. I couldnt breathe and we were all hysterically laughing. Courtney was suffocating she was laughing so hard. When the bulk of the work was done we went to sonic to treat ourselves to milkshakes. In all I am pretty sure we did a good job distracting Courtney.
